NEED SOME HELP BUDDY NATION

As some of you know, Wilbur had to go back to the vet for more tests. He just wasn’t doing well. He had a temperature of a little over 102 (that’s bad for a dog), he was lethargic and he wasn’t eating or drinking. Turns out he has mange and another skin infection. Doctor drew blood to test for heartworm and other meanies, which all came back negative, thank goodness. He is on antibiotics and they gave him fluids twice in two days. I almost cringe when I ask to see my balance due. Ohana is always so gracious about letting me pay when I raise the funds. We got the bill paid for Buddy and little Bully and Wilbur’s previous visit a couple of weeks ago, but this is what I owe right now. They did not itemize, just put the total for me. My anonymous donor is still willing to match funds up to $400. We have a ways to go on that, but I’m hoping we can get there. If we do, and she matches it, then I will have enough left over to help some other dogs in the future. No amount is too small and always greatly appreciated. I cannot help these precious dogs without the help of my angels.

As always, I am so very grateful for you all to allow me to continue to do this for the homeless dogs, who otherwise would not get the veterinary care they need.

Thank you ~ Debi

BUDDY NATION FUNDRAISING CHALLENGE! Ready Set GO!

BUDDY NATION, I got a message a couple of days ago from an anonymous Pittie lover who follows Buddy Nation who has offered to match every dollar raised from now until July 27th up to $400!! This is amazing and wonderful and awesome! Imagine all the good I can do with this! I can get Max back to the vet about his leg, and get vet care for a couple other Pits that need help that I have had to turn away due to lack of funds. I know we can do this! Can you help me spread the word? So far we have received $70 which instantly become $140 thanks to my anonymous angel. This means Wilbur’s vet bill is now paid and the dog food I bought for Buddy, Bully and Bella is paid for with a little spare change left over.
Since I started this Buddy Nation fundraiser we have raised $2,935!. Every cent of your generous donations has gone for the care of these precious homeless pups. The good you have helped accomplish is massive for these dogs and their people. Without it, many of these dogs would be very sick, have disease from lack of vaccines, and birthing litter after litter adding to the homeless Pit population. You are angels, every one of you!
My anonymous Pittie lover has given us a challenge I know we can meet! We have till July 27th! Let’s do this 🙂

BUDDY IS BACK IN TOWN ~ MAY NEED YOUR HELP

Hello Buddy Nation ~ It’s been awhile since I posted an update throught the fundraiser, but now I need to.

First off, Buddy and Erica have moved back to Ventura. It didn’t work out for them where they moved to, although they sure gave it the ol’ college try. So they are back here and “camping” on the streets right now. I am not sure what they need, but will compile a list and get it out. I do know they need tent, probably sleeping bags and maybe some camp gear of any kind. She asked me for tarps this weekend when it was raining, but I didn’t have any, nor did I have money to buy some, so they went without. I don’t want any of my homeless Pibbles to go without basic needs if I can help it. I had to purchase dog food for Buddy and Bully (his little Chi brother) and Bella yesterday, since I had already handed out the remaining food donated by SPARC. My budget is pretty thin right now, especially fostering Blew and getting him all the little things he needs that I can’t really ask to be donated for him.

I also have not paid Ohana for Wilbur’s last visit when he got so sick he wasn’t eating or drinking. That’s been resolved, but I owe them $72. They are always gracious in allowing me to pay when I can. I depend on my Buddy Nation angels to help me keep these precious dogs healthy, so if anyone can help with this cost I would be so grateful.

I will update on Buddy and Erica as soon as I know more of what’s needed. Thank you for always being by my side on this journey. I literally cannot do it without you.

BUDDY NATION ~ FUNDS NEEDED FOR SHADOW’S RELEASE

Buddy Nation we are fast approaching Shadow’s hearing date of June 24th. We are confident all will go well, and he will be released back into the care of his family. In order to assure this goes smoothly, we need to raise funds to cover his quarantine fee and daily boarding fees at the shelter which will amount to $650 by the 24th. We have raised SOME of that money, but we have a ways to go. PLEASE SHARE and donate if you are able. No amount is too small. We thank you all for your continued support for this great dog. I’m praying that money will not the wrench in the machine that puts a halt to his happy ending..

With a grateful heart, I thank you ~ Debi

SHADOW UPDATE PLEASE SHARE!

I’ll make this short and sweet Buddy Nation. We have been working very hard on Shadow’s behalf. Hours, days, and nights of meetings, phone calls, emails, driving, research…the list goes on. Right now we have a hearing date of June 24th, but that MAY be moved to a later date. I will update you all as we hear more.

Of utmost importance at this time are funds. In anticipation and hope of a positive outcome at Shadow’s hearing, we are seeking to raise funds to cover the fees associated with his stay at the shelter. At this point he has accrued approximately $650 in quarantine and boarding fees. Yeah, I know, it’s crazy, but we certainly don’t want money to be an issue should everything else fall into place as we are confident it will.

PLEASE if you can help us with this we would be so grateful. PLEASE share with your friends and family who may be able to help Shadow.

With a grateful heart, I thank you ~ Debi

THE SCENE OF THE SHOOTING & MORE…

Good evening Buddy Nation. Since this is all new for me, I have been very busy gathering information from rescue groups, and animal advocates. We have contacted an animal legal defense lawyer who might be able to help us. She is very knowledgeable on these types of cases and I believe she can help us immensely at Shadow’s hearing. The problem is it will most likely cost us at least $1000, which we don’t have at this point. I would love to hire her, or at least get as much information from her as possible for whatever I can afford to pay her, and then go from there. If anyone that offered to help with Shadow’s legal defense is still willing to donate, we can move forward with this lawyer. If we can’t hire her, I will continue to look for other options. I just don’t know what the hearing will involve. I did speak to Animal Control today and they are hoping to get Shadow’s hearing as well as a few others, scheduled in the next few days. Hopefully this means we will have a date by next week. I will keep you posted as soon as I know anything.  I don’t even know what I’m feeling at this point. I’m a little depressed, feeling drained, spinning in circles. I’m not sleeping very well with all that’s going on, not only with Shadow, but the other dozen or so homeless dogs I am looking after, and of course my precious AFLAR rescue dogs. I so want this sweet boy to be able to go home to his family. They don’t have much, but they love him and he loves them. I’m going to try to get Tina over to visit him again at the shelter this week if I can get off work early. It’s hard to see him, and then leave him there. He’s such a happy soul when he comes into the play yard. It makes me cry, but I don’t want him to think we abandoned him. I know VCAS is taking good care of him. He looked really good when we saw him last, and I thank them for all they have done for Shadow.

The photo you see above is where the shooting happened. Tina, Bella and Shadow were by the sign. Sage, Nathan and the police were on the other side of the walkway on the grass. I didn’t realize it was right on Victoria Blvd. I thought it all happened in the Ralph’s parking lot. There were a lot of witnesses. I wish I could talk to them. I wish they would come forward and contact me.I would like to hear their take on what happened.

I’m gathering statements from people in the community who have met Shadow, and can vouch for his good nature. Among them is Dr Donnalee from Ohana, who treated Shadow earlier in the day he was shot. If you have met Shadow, and would like to send me an email about Shadow that I can print up and take with me to the hearing, please send to 2goldenshome@gmail.com.

I think that’s about it for now. As soon as I know the hearing date, I will post an update. If you haven’t already gotten your ‘FREE SHADOW’ tee shirt, please stop by The December Store & More to pick one up. 4160 Market Street, #12, Ventura. Cross street Donlon – it’s 1 block down from the DMV and right next door to the CARL Boutique Thrift Store. Open 11-6 Tues-Fri and 11-5 Sat. We hope to get a good group of people supporting Shadow at his hearing, all wearing his tee shirt. I will bring some to the hearing if you tell me you are coming and can’t stop by the store to pick one up beforehand. Let’s bring this sweet boy home. His family and Bella miss him very much!
